Self-Storage Gate Access Systems
A self-storage facility lives and dies on access. Tenants want to reach their units conveniently, and you need to make sure only paying, current tenants get in — at the gate and, increasingly, at the building and unit level. The old model of a shared gate code that never changes is a security hole and a billing problem. Logical Access Controls installs modern self-storage gate access systems that give every tenant their own credential, let them in through an app or keypad, and let you cut off access the moment an account goes delinquent — all managed remotely.

Tenant access that works the way renters expect
Today's tenants expect a self-storage gate access app: open the gate from their phone, get in without hunting for a code, and never deal with a malfunctioning keypad. We install systems that support mobile unlock alongside PIN codes, key fobs, and cards, so every tenant uses whatever they prefer while you keep one clean, current authorized list. When someone rents a unit, you grant access in seconds. When they move out or stop paying, you revoke it just as fast — no lock changes, no chasing down a fob.
Control beyond the gate
Many operators want more than a single perimeter gate. We extend access control to building entrances on climate-controlled facilities and to individual unit and corridor doors where it makes sense, so a tenant's credential only opens what they're paying for. Combined with cameras, you get a layered system: the gate logs who entered the property, building readers log who entered each building, and cameras record it all.
Works with your management software
Self-storage runs on facility management platforms, and access control should reflect what's in them. Our UniFi-based systems are designed to integrate with modern storage management workflows so your authorized-tenant list and access status stay in sync with your records — current tenants in, delinquent and former tenants out — reducing the manual work of keeping the gate list accurate. We'll review your specific software during the site assessment and design the integration approach accordingly.
What you get
- Per-tenant credentials (mobile app, PIN, fob, or card) instead of a shared code.
- Instant grant and revoke from anywhere — tie access to payment status.
- Complete entry/exit logs for the gate, buildings, and doors.
- Access schedules and tiers (standard hours vs. 24-hour tenants).
- Camera coverage tied to entry events for a full record.
The hardware behind it
We build on Ubiquiti UniFi Access and UniFi Protect. A UniFi Access Gate Hub runs the entry gate; door hubs and readers secure building and unit doors; mobile credentials, NFC cards, and key fobs serve tenants; and UniFi Protect cameras cover gates, hallways, and the perimeter, recording to on-site network video storage. It's one platform for the entire facility, managed remotely and built to scale from a single gate to a multi-building campus.
